I’ve spent 26 years deep in the trenches of the advertising world. In that time, I’ve written and produced hundreds of TV spots and campaigns. I’ve created thousands upon thousands of headlines and taglines. I’ve been a director when budgets wouldn’t allow for a “real” director. I’ve written original songs for spots because…well…I thought it was needed and the client just didn’t have the cash. I’ve created campaigns with millions of dollars, and plenty with just a few hundred. I’ve created work that made the voice talent reading it cry. I’ve given heritage brands new perspectives on their own culture, helped people find jobs they didn’t know were out there, grown hospitals into multi-faceted healthcare brands, raised money for worthy causes, turned people on to the joys of the art world, convinced skeptics to attend the opera, and even inspired more than a few date nights. I’ve written speeches for the AdobeMAX conference, a variety of corporate events and, when called upon, the occasional skit. Heck, I once had a hairbrained idea that led to a client being listed in the Guinness Book of World Records. But no matter what the client request is, I approach every job with the same level of excitement, and right-brain-meets-left-brain passion for what I do.
And what I do is help people solve problems and tell their stories. That’s because I love ideas. I love understanding the human truth hidden within research and turning it into something useful for a brand. And, most of all, I love the notion that a small thought in the back of someone’s brain that wakes them up in the middle of the night can become an idea that leads a brand in a new direction.
